The Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances comprising of the former senior most Judge of Supreme Court Mr. Justice Javed Iqbal(President), Justice (R) Dr. Ghous Muhamm
ad (Member) and Mr. Muhammad Sharif Virk, IGP(R) (Member), continued investigations/hearings in the cases of Enforced Disappearances.

2. On 1st March, 2011, 138 cases of Missing Persons were transferred to the Commission. During the period 1st March 2011 to 31st January, 2015, 2275 new cases were received in the Commission; thus enhancing the total number of cases to 2413 out of which 1140 cases have been disposed of and current balance of the cases under investigation in the Commission is 1273. Province-wise statistics of cases under investigation is attached as Annex-A.

3. During January, 2015, hearings were held in 200 cases of alleged enforced disappearance at Islamabad, 52 cases were heard at Lahore, while hearing in 44 cases was held at Karachi. Consequent to these hearings,
42 cases have been disposed of as under:-

a. Traced Persons 40
b. Closed not being case of 02

4. List of persons traced during January, 2015 is enclosed
(Annex-B).

5. In the month of February, hearings have already been scheduled at Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi during which cases pertaining to Punjab, KP, Sindh, ICT and AJ&K will be held.
